Alison S. Parkins Fun Author Interview with
*~* KA Hobbs*~*
All about you!
Name: Kerri… or KA Hobbs
Location: Chelmsford, Essex, UK
Star Sign: Capricorn
What genre/genres do you write? Contemporary romance
Tell us a random fact about yourself: I’m obsessed with the Tudors. Anne Boleyn especially.
Where is your dream holiday destination? The Maldives. We went for our honeymoon and I long to go back!
What is your all-time favourite food? Grapes or cherries
What is your favourite Take-Away choice? Pizza usually
Tell us your favourite sweets/candy? Haribo Giant Strawbs – they’re so chewy and delicious!
If you like to cook, which dish do you enjoy preparing and cooking yourself? Either a roast dinner or chicken stuffed with Boursin and spinach wrapped in parma ham – it actually appears in one of my books!
Do you enjoy baking? If so what is your favourite food item you love to bake? I don’t really, because I’m not that good at it. Although I do make a good rock cake.
What is the one dessert you can never resist? A good cheesecake
Which of your book characters has a lot of you in them? All my girls have me in them, but I guess Sophie is the most like me, I think.
Who so far, has been your favourite character to write? Ooooooh. I can’t pick just one. I think Harry has been the most fun though, or Josie. Those two can get away with saying anything, nothing is too far for them.
If you could be any character from any book, who would you be and why? I’d be Nora from Tiffany Reisz Original Sinners series. I mean come on, she gets Søren! And I want Søren, too. If I couldn’t be Nora… I’d be Kiera from SC Stephen’s Thoughtless series, because, well… Kellan. I’d love to say Lou from Me Before You, but she deals with things in a way I don’t think I could. I’d be awfully emotional about everything.
Is there one of your book characters that you have disliked or do you love them all in some way, even the bad guys? I don’t really dislike any of my characters, although the story I’m currently writing has a character I really dislike.
What car do you drive? I don’t drive, but Mr. Hobbs drives a Ford S-Max
What is your dream car? A purple mini or a just lately, a ruby red metallic Mustang.
Who is your current eye candy/crush? Oh, I have a list; Richard Madden, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Xavier Samuel, Douglas Booth…
Which celebrity did you have a crush on as a teenager? George Clooney – blame ER.
What is your favourite movie of all-time? I honestly don’t have one.
Who is your favourite band/singer of all-time? Again, I don’t have one. But The Paper Kites and the Civil Wars are both up there. And I absolutely adore Bruno Mars and Paolo Nutini
Tell us more about you, tell us as much or as little as you like…
KA Hobbs lives with her husband in Essex. When she isn’t lost in a book or creating one, she loves to cook, swim, and shop. Her happiest times are always when she’s surrounded by family and friends or watching Cinderella or Harry Potter, which some might say she is a little obsessed with.
She’s a bit of a history geek and loves the Tudors and would love to go back to that period in time as a Lady in Henry Viii’s court… but only if she could be sure not to have her head chopped off!
Her writing journey started purely by chance, one day while watching TV, a scene came to her, completely out of the blue. She could see the scene unfolding, could picture the characters so clearly. She couldn’t get to her laptop quick enough and spent hours writing not only that scene, but lots of others too. Writing is her happy place and she couldn’t imagine not doing it.
She will happily admit to being grumpy when she doesn’t get to write, she loves her characters and spending time listening to what they have to say.
If we wanted to stalk you where can we find you?
Now we know more about you, tell us about your books…
The connected series starts with Sophie and Doug’s story in Doubt which continues into Assured, (Book #2). Book #3 in the series, Broken is Lauren’s story, which after reading Doubt and Assured will be a great insight into why things panned out the way they had for Doug.
(The Connected Series Book 2)
Sophie and Doug have the perfect life. Both have respectable careers and their relationship is growing stronger every day. With work requiring Doug to travel, they spend many nights apart. Late night calls, feelings of secrets hanging in the air; will their relationship survive a ‘blast from the past’?
Hurt, betrayal, love. Will Doug be forced to choose? Can Sophie see past the hurt and give Doug a chance to explain, for her to understand? Is their relationship strong enough to cope with the changes life has in store for them? Will they be able to move forward?
(The Connected Series Book 2)
Life was changing for Sophie and Doug. Their relationship has been tried and tested in ways they never would have imagined. Adapting to how their life was now takes time and patience – a lot of patience. Are Sophie’s dreams of a happily ever after realistic? Could she be the person Doug needed her to be? And can Doug balance life in his new role and maintain his old one? Does love really conquer all? Find out where life takes Doug and Sophie in book two of The Connected Series.
(The Connected Series Book 3)
My name is Lauren. You’ve met my daughter, Abigail. She is pretty amazing isn’t she? My life took a path I didn’t expect. A path I had no say in. Before it’s too late, I want the chance to explain why I lied and took away Doug’s chance to be a father. The saying goes, there are two sides to every story and this is mine.
The following books in the Connected series are the stories of characters featured within Sophie and Doug’s story.
(The Connected Series Book 4)
Harry is all about the three Fs – fun, freedom and females. While he has no responsibilities, he wants to see as much of the world as he can, experience life and the many delectable women it has to offer.
Then he meets Megan, a blonde angel who turns his world upside down and changes not only how he thinks, but what he wants. When a decision is made, their seemingly solid relationship cracks. Can Harry get Megan back? Or was it too late? Find out in book four in The Connected Series.
(The Connected Series Book 5)
Do you believe in soul mates? That there is one person out there who you’re supposed to meet and fall in love with? One person who completes you? My name is Miley and I do because I found mine. I’ve never been the kind of girl who needed a man to feel complete, until I met Jonathan. Now I can’t bear to spend a night away from him. Let me tell you our story – the most beautiful love story even if I do say so myself. You’ll fall head over heels for my man, I know you will. Come and meet Mr Cooper.
(The Connected Series Book 6)
Have you ever found yourself somewhere and wondered how exactly you got there? That’s me right now. I’m Josie and I’m marrying my best friend in two days – I can’t quite believe it’s happening. Life before was simple, all I had to worry about was me.
Then Jack walked into my life and everything changed. I fell for this American charmer who challenged my stubbornness, protected my insecurities and made me question what I wanted out of life. I didn’t realise I was broken until he slowly fixed me and I didn’t realise what we had was worth fighting for until he showed me. Everyone has their own story and this is ours.
My latest series is the Kindred Series which is Carmen and Carter’s story, their story compromises of books #1 & #2. I have other books to follow. However, only their story is currently published.
(Kindred Series Book 1)
When life gets complicated, Carmen Reid decides the only place to be is home. Leaving everything in Australia, she returns to London and to the love and support of her family and friends – something she desperately needs right now. How can she be strong when all she feels is pain and weakness? And how can she fight something she’s sure is hell bent on destroying her?
Carter Manning is heading to England for his brother’s wedding, and the last thing he expects is for his life to change. But then he meets Carmen, best friend of the bride-to-be and something awakens inside him.
When Carmen confesses a shocking truth, a truth that changes everything for him, he realises that he wants to help, protect and be there for her and he promises he will be.
Through the most devastating time in Carmen’s life, Carter becomes her strength. He gives her a reason to fight and without even realising it, she becomes his everything, leaving them both wondering one thing… how can something so beautiful come out of the ugliest of things?
(The Kindred Series Book 2)
Carter and Carmen have overcome hurdles in their life together that would tear most couples apart, and now they have a lifetime of love to look forward to. With dreams of their future urging them forward, everything seems perfect.
But life is never easy and they know that only too well.
But when things get tough and life leaves them both needing the other to lean on, is their love for each other enough to get them through, like it has many times before? Is what they both dream of within their reach? And can they weather life’s storm, and come out stronger?
I also have a standalone contemporary romance available, which is Katie and Daniels Story….
