Born into poverty in Glasgow, Scotland, Carmen Capuano moved to England at the age of eighteen. A full and varied working life saw her relocate from London to Birmingham, and finally to the small Worcestershire town of Bromsgrove, where she still resides with her children and dogs.
A prolific writer, she has penned sixteen novels in just four years, covering every genre from chick-lit to science fiction. Ascension is her sixth published book.
“Moving around and living on my own so much, I saw a lot more of life than many girls my age. I experienced enough joy, sadness and even terror in my early life to fuel a thousand books, but it’s the sum of these things which make me the person I am.
“I guess that it’s these memories and experiences which colour my writing and bring forth the complex and diverse characters I create. It’s also why my books are cross-genre, with elements of romance and/or thriller as well as action, adventure and mystery. Nothing in life is ever truly simple, there are infinite implications and ramifications in everything we do, and it’s these which are reflected both in my characters and the extraordinary situations they find themselves in.
“My stories are tales which demand to be written down. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.”

I am blessed–or cursed–with the ability to see the colour of peoples’ souls, something I dare not reveal. Keeping my secret hidden has kept me safe. Until now.
Now I am afraid that I can no longer hide from the evil in our society. Our laws are intended–or so I have always believed–to protect us from sinfulness and chaos. But my friend, Sarah, is pregnant and unmarried. Her child will be taken from her at birth and she will be forced into a life of shame. Time is slipping away. I must discover where the father of her child is and why he’s disappeared. But will the answers I find save, or destroy our society? Will they save, or destroy Sarah?
I’m torn between doing the right thing and the wrong thing. The trouble is that I don’t know which is which.
I settle for the truth. It’s all I have.
